Archival Jew's Harp Vinyl Rips
Here you will find many rare vinyl records featuring jew's harp, that I have digitized over several years. These are not available anywhere else digitally at this quality, and most are not available online at all. The intention of sharing these records is to preserve the rich tradition of this beautiful, and oft overlooked, music.
I process my rips conservatively with Brian Davies' ClickRepair, DeNoise and DeNoiseLF and then manually fix any anomalies. The stylus used for the majority of these recordings is an AT-VMN95ML. All albums are fully tagged and most include full album scans. Enjoy!
The first solo jew's harp record in history, to my knowledge. RIAA EQ inverted and American Records EQ applied. This shellac record is a piece of history. My copy has some irreparable damage, if anyone has a copy in great condition, I would be happy to digitize it and return it to you.
An impressive selection of traditional German folk music, played as a duo by the brothers Mayr. A prime example of the unique wechspiel technique. The year is not listed anywhere on the record.

A seminal work on the instrument by John Wright, featuring Tran Quang Hai. Side A contains some instructions for playing and experimental works, while Side B is dedicated to traditional tunes from the British Isles. A must listen for anyone serious about jew's harp music.
An impressive album full of traditional Irish music. Half of the album's tracks include masterful playing by Dave, Mike, and John Wright, solo and together. A must listen.
The title speaks for itself. Half the album contains John Wright's virtuosity on the jew's harp. The other half features his wife's singing and other instrumentals.
Only track 4 features jew's harp playing by John Wright, but it is so well played that it warrants a close listen.
